NOVA Entertainment quickly managed to establish itself amongst already existing entertainments after its foundation
in August 1997 and with the debut of their first boy group 'S.O.S.' they almost catapulted to the top. They were able to achieve many successes, which is why already one year later their second boy group 'Cupid' debuted. Already in this year NOVA made it clear that among them only groups would debut and not solo artists, which was a shock for many at that time. Nevertheless, NOVA managed to stay in the top third among entertainment groups. More groups debuted and the entertainment could not complain at all about lack of trainees. In fact, a lot of people applied, so that in 2001 there was a year without castings, because NOVA wanted to concentrate on training their current trainees first. In the same year, the girl group 'Aurora' made their debut, and within a year they were able to fight their way to the top, becoming NOVA's pride and joy. But the boy group 'MOON' also did well among the debuting groups, but they were not as successful as 'Aurora' for a long time.
Two years later followed the girl group 'Midnight', whose concept was very similar to that of 'MOON'. This was NOVA's first attempt at a follow-up, which worked out quite well and raised hopes for many fans to see the two groups on stage together one day.
In 2004 they got the first extreme wave of hate for allegedly not having enough variability, which prompted them to debut the group 'Rebels' two years later. Consisting of 6 members, this co-ed group was a very unique phenomenon with a horror concept. However, they quickly rose to the top of the charts despite all the criticism, they also were the first group under NOVA to have international success. For this very reason, NOVA Entertainment became a bit too haughty and they took on even more trainees than before and due to their attitude towards fair prices for all their employees and trainees, their income went down the drain pretty quickly. They had hardly any money left and by that time five of their groups were already inactive and only 'Aurora' and 'Midnight', besides 'Rebels', were still under contract with NOVA Entertainment at all and thus the last sources of money.
Many contracts with trainees were cancelled through various - not always completely legal - ways and NOVA's money situation stabilized again. So much so that they debuted their last two groups in 2010, when their most successful girl group 'Aurora' disbanded - causing a great deal of dismay among fans. Even though NOVA had tried to take the concept of 'Aurora' in a darker direction with the girl group 'Star', making them an equivalent of the first girl group of entertainment, no one in the fan base could replace their favorites.
After that, things kept going downhill and 'Rebels' also said goodbye in 2011, leaving only 'Midnight', 'Pandora' and 'Star' active in entertainment. Due to the many money problems, NOVA had fallen further and further during this time and only a few people took the risk of getting involved with this entertainment, which is why they did not manage to form a new group and so they had to rely on their current girl groups, which despite all their efforts did not bring in very much revenue, so many employees were fired. In 2012, Min Jonghyun took over the dying entertainment in the hope of somehow saving them, but in the following three years, all contracts with the still active groups ended and none thought of renewing their contract anymore. Back in 2015, Jonghyun received an offer to join Big Hit, but he didn't want to get involved with such a small entertainment. Only after the success of 'I NEED U', the interest in the small entertainment with a boy group grew. In that year, the last contract with the girls from 'Pandora' expired and Jonghyun had no other choice, his last hope was in the small entertainment when he signed the contract. After that, it became quiet and Jonghyun decided to limit himself to a small group of trainees who would become his next groups.
